Over the course of a year Millennium offers aspiring and experienced filmmakers instruction in diverse “tools of filmmaking”. We are technologically inclusive, committed to supporting cinematic expression through celluloid, electronic, and any other means an artist can devise. Recent workshop offerings include s8/16 Filmmaking, DSLR Digital Filmmaking, Optical Printing, Hand-Painted Filmmaking, Lighting, and Green Screen.
Our workshops are taught by accomplished cinema artists who screen their work -indeed, a list of some former teachers reads like a Who’s Who of experimental cinema: Alan Berliner, Su Friedrich, Barbara Hammer, Paul Sharits, Jud Yalkut, Ross McLaren, Jennifer Reeves, Kelly Spivey, Noël Carroll, Nisi Jacobs, Rachel Shuman, and Jon Jost are but a few. Class sizes are kept small to encourage dialogue and experimentation, and during their workshop study participants have free access to equipment and space, and free passes to our weekly screenings.
By becoming a Millennium Member (one year for $30), you can take our workshops at the discounted member rate -and for one year enjoy 50% discounted admission to our weekly Personal Cinema Screenings and low cost equipment rental/facility access. Millennium is a member-based organization -members are invited to participate in operations and leadership, help decide strategic direction, and annually elect Millennium’s governing board.
